Will we ever feel truly able to call ourselves writers without feeling like frauds? I feel this way often. I found your work through Elle Griffin and I'm glad I did. This story was beautifully written. I love your descriptions. The park felt alive.
I actually don't use Discord very much these days. I mostly read Elle's newsletters here and followed down the rabbit hole of who was commenting and who she followed to find more people on Substack. The Substack search function is terrible. Ha ha! But I did recently start my own as a sort of writing diary and keeping myself accountable and encouraged to continue working on my stories. Writing can be so lonely sometimes.
It so is! Until recently, I was feeling a bit depressed about not having people I could discuss my writing with etc. Got lucky during the pandemic when I attended a 4 days writing workshop that resulted in a community. Am very new to Substack and Discord myself. Despite starting the accounts last year, I started actively using them only a couple of weeks ago. And am still figuring out which newsletter is written by whom etc. :).
Like you I too stay away from horror films and books. I read this as was suggested by Pratibha and I enjoyed reading it.. My heart was thumping for a while but it was fine. Enjoyed this and hope to see more from you ( other genres too ).. Good luck 😊
Thanks Smitha for reading, especially given that this is not your genre of choice. Please do click on subscribe (if not already done) and I hope to send stories and poems to your inbox that you will enjoy more 😊
It is such a fight to claim one's self, to claim the right to define one's own self. Even if no one else is blocking the way, thanks to conditioning, we are making things difficult for ourselves.
So glad you liked the story. I hope you got to read the edited version and not the goof up version where all my MS Word track changes appeared. Thanks for reading Jayne. :)

Hi Karah! Thanks for reading and getting in touch. So glad the park came to life - I am working on improving my descriptions of places.
I am so glad I found Elle Griffin's discord network too.
What's your handle/name there? Would be great to read your work :)
